5 QVCT “Professional Equality for All” winning projects in CNRS Physics units

Institutionnel

As part of the QVCT1  Call for Projects 2024, the CNRS has rewarded 34 projects aiming to improve the quality of life at work, with the theme of “Professional equality for all”. With five initiatives selected from CNRS Physics research units, this call demonstrates its community's strong commitment to inclusion and diversity.

  • 1Quality of life and working conditions

The projects selected within the CNRS Physique units reflect the desire to improve the quality of life at work by integrating the principles of equality and inclusion. In the coming weeks, these projects will receive financial support from the CNRS Human Resources Department, enabling them to be deployed and to mesure their impact in the field.

2024 Call for QVCT project laureates in CNRS Physics laboratories

MODEL : MOtion Design for Equality-diversity in a research Laboratory

Institut lumière matière (ILM, CNRS / Univ. Claude Bernard Lyon 1)

This project aims to create a series of 8 short animated (motion design) videos over a 3-year period, on a number of subjects related to life within the laboratory: administrative aspects, psycho-social risks, equality-diversity, etc.
In the long term, the aim is to improve understanding of the working environment, develop a sense of belonging, enhance the value of the various professions, and guarantee access to information for all through bilingual subtitled videos broadcast via our communication channels.
These videos could also be made available to other CNRS units, promoting knowledge sharing.

Exposing gender bias in everyday laboratory work

Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire de Physique (LiPhy, CNRS / Université Grenoble Alpes)

This project aims to raise awareness of gender bias and stereotypes in scientific circles through a forum-theater performance. Inspired by anonymous testimonials collected from laboratory volunteers, the sketches will illustrate familiar professional situations. The aim is to provoke thought and encourage everyone to become an agent of change. Thanks to the interactivity inherent in forum theater, participants will be encouraged to discuss subjects often neglected in institutional or informal exchanges. The performance will be integrated into a convivial moment, encouraging open and constructive exchange.

Raising staff awareness through theater

Institut des Matériaux, de Microélectronique et des Nanosciences de Provence (IM2NP, CNRS / Aix-Marseille Université)

Laboratory staff are invited to vote for one of three themes: sexist and sexual violence, moral harassment and control, or sexism and discrimination in the workplace. The theme that comes out on top will be transcribed in an on-site theatre-forum. The performance will be followed by a convivial moment over a shared meal.

Improvising for Equality: Raising awareness of SGBV, harassment and discrimination

Centre de recherche sur les ions, les matériaux et la photonique (CIMAP, CEA / CNRS / ENSICAEN / Université Caen Normandie)

The aim of the project is to design and offer agents interactive forum theater sketches, specially designed to raise awareness of the issues of gender-based violence, harassment and the fight against discrimination. These playlets will engage participants in discussions and reflections on these issues, helping them to better understand, prevent and react to inappropriate behavior.

These projects illustrate the CNRS Physique laboratories' commitment to quality of life at work, with parity and equality at the heart of their actions.

Professional equality for all at CNRS Physique

The institute itself is committed to this issue, and has launched a project entitled “Revealing the Potential of Female Leadership”, also a winner of this call for projects.

Revealing the Potential of Female Leadership

The project is to set up a “Leadership au Féminin” mentoring program offering personalized support to the women of the institute to develop their professional and personal skills with the help of a coach. It includes group training, followed by one-hour individual sessions per month for 4 months, to meet the needs defined upstream. Topics covered include building self-confidence, feedback, communication, work-life balance and stress management. Complementary to the Institute's “Women in Physical Science” national training program, this mentoring program is aimed primarily at IT women.
